RENE G. BOISVERT

Rene Boisvert, a fifth generation San Franciscan, has resided in the San Francisco Bay Area throughout the course of his education and career.  He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley.  Since 1980, Boisvert has achieved impeccable accomplishments in business development, marketing, sales, and operations within the professional worlds of entertainment, sports, special event, real estate, and philanthropy industries.

In 1980, Boisvert created Rainy Day Productions to produce and market nationally known concert artists in entertainment venues throughout Northern California.  Rainy Day specialized in producing events that other major promoters had little expertise in marketing or were overlooked within the marketplace.  Through the mid 1990’s, over 350 events were produced in venues ranging in size from 2,000 - 14,000 seats in assorted markets through the Western United States.  These shows have featured such major artists as Bonnie Raitt, Jerry Seinfeld, Garth Brooks, B. B. King, and many more.  The percentage of shows which sold out well exceeded industry levels.  Additionally, Rainy Day Productions has produced assorted industry and consumer trade shows, special events, and fundraiser extravaganzas.  During this time period, Rainy Day Productions was internationally recognized by Billboard Magazine as a top talent and highly respected event producer and event marketer in a competitive major marketplace.

The success brought by the “events” produced by Rainy Day led to the purchase in the early 1990’s of a professional minor league baseball franchise.  The franchise located in Helena, Montana was a minor league affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers professional baseball team.  In Boisvert’s first year of ownership, both an all-time attendance record as well as all-time gross revenues levels were achieved.  This was the first time in 20 plus years that the sports franchise had generated a profit.  Throughout his five years of ownership, revenues and earnings continually grew resulting in the sale of the baseball franchise generating a 268% profit.  Just prior to the sale, Boisvert negotiated and orchestrated a commitment for a new ballpark to be built.

Since that time, Boisvert has evolved from focusing on event productions and marketing (though continuing to produce special events on an occasional basis such as the International Association of Assembly Managers Annual Conference & Trade Show and Jerry Brown’s Inaugural), to specializing in business development, marketing, and sales related consultation as well as a financier for major concert tours. Having the unique opportunity of having been a “hands on” owner and operator of the types of businesses to which he predominantly coaches (the sports, entertainment, real estate, and philanthropy related industries), Boisvert has been able to offer a pragmatic perspective from his gamut of professional experiences.  Boisvert has been a contributing researcher for the sport’s trade publication -- Sports Business Journal, a contributing writer for the IAAM international trade journal -- Facility Manager, as well as a featured speaker at the IAAM Annual Conference.

Additionally, Boisvert operates as a principal in a real estate company, Boulevard Equity Group, which specializes in closing innovative and challenging real estate financing for investors as well as in the development and building of single family homes.  The firm additionally consults as an expert witness in legal matters.  Boisvert is a Board Advisor to Alta Alliance Bank in Oakland and Piedmont.

A fervent supporter of the community in which he residesBoisvert has always availed himself to volunteering time and resources to an assortment of community projects or organizations.  Personally responsible for having raised multiple millions of dollars.   Current participation includes St. Vincent’s Day Home (Board Member) and umpiring local youth baseball.  Past participation includes Philanthropic Ventures Foundation (Board Advisor), Rotary, the Oakland Paramount Theatre (ex Board Member, Vice President & Treasurer),  Business Volunteers for the Arts, City of Oakland Sport & Entertainment Task Force, and Friends of the Oakland Fox Theatre.  Boisvert is currently enrolled in a graduate program at Indiana University / Center of Philanthropy School and in 2010 received his CFRM certification.
